Enjoying Malaga

As you know by now, the Sky Polaris project landed without incident AND WITH BRAKES on the La Axarquia airport east of Malaga at about 1450 UTC and was met by friends and well-wishers. He is being hosted by the Real Aeroclub of Malaga who will take very good care of this world record breaking explorer and scientist.

While on Lanzarote, Michel diagnosed the brake problem as a leaking O-Ring (actually it is square) and applied an old trick. He flipped the O-ring over! That solved the problem. Easy fix and no new parts needed.

The plan now is for Michel to get some much needed rest in the resort/tourist city of Malaga. This area is very famous for its weather, beautiful beaches (the capital of the Costa del Sol!), shopping and historical sights. Perhaps Michel can swim in the warm water of the Mediterranean. On second thought, he may not to see any more ocean after having flown 1000’s of miles over most of the oceans and seas of the world.

On Thursday, 12/15/2016 Captain Gordillo will fly to his home base of Madrid. The arrival is expected to be 12:30 pm local time. There will be an official reception there with government officials welcoming him home, and his arrival will be accompanied by other aircraft. We will give more details as they become available.
